Thursday, February 19, 2009
6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Lakeland/College Park Community Center
5051 Pierce Avenue
College Park, MD 20740

The goals of the Post-Charrette Workshop will be to solicit additional feedback, validate key recommendations with the community, discuss potential changes that may be necessary to ensure the concepts can be implemented, and review how public and agency input has informed the sector plan process. Staff and members from the consultant team will also be on hand to answer questions and facilitate the evening’s activities.

We had a successful and intense charrette in early December, and look forward to an even more successful and well-attended Post-Charrette Workshop. Your continued input and participation is essential to this process, and we hope to see you there on February 19. Please pass along this message to other residents, property owners, business persons, and interested stakeholders, and look for follow-up notifications in the mail and local newspapers.

Public Hearing on Preliminary Countywide Master Plan of Transportation

January 30, 2009

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) has published a Preliminary Countywide Master Plan of Transportation. The plan assesses the medium- to long-term needs of the transportation network in Prince George’s County.

The 2002 Prince George’s County Approved General Plan recommended that the 1982 Master Plan of Transportation be updated. The updated plan consists of four elements:

  1. Trails, Bikeways, and Pedestrian
  2. Fixed Guideway Transit
  3. Streets, Roads, and Highways
  4. Strategic Transportation Policy and Plan Implementation

Each element recommends strategic policy and guidance to the county, local, regional, and state transportation agencies on the types and locations of transportation facilities, systems, and services needed to carry out the goals and policies of the General Plan.

The public hearing is part of a process that ends with the approval of a new functional master plan that will update the 1982 Master Plan of Transportation , the 2002 Prince George’s County Approved General Plan, and subsequent adopted and approved master plans.
